2018年3月8日の国際女性デーに「ウィメンズマーチ東京」を開催します！　東京の街を、みんなで一緒に歩きませんか？

約1年前、女性を蔑視する発言が問題になったドナルド・トランプ氏がアメリカ大統領に就任したことをきっかけに、世界中で多くの女性たちが「黙ってはいられない」と立ち上がりました。

立ち上がった女性たちは、これまでのフェミニズム運動が見落としてきたものを丁寧に振り返り、社会を変えるために挑戦するべき課題を再考し、それをパワーに変えて行動を起こしていきました。

人種、民族、経済格差、セクシュアリティ、障害、移民など、さまざまなバックグラウンドやアイデンティティをもつ女性たちが抱える社会課題を包括的に解決するには、いまの社会構造そのものを変える必要があります。そのためには、これまでのフェミニズム運動のなかでも後回しにされがちだった女性たちが抱える課題にこそ焦点をあてて取り組むべきだという考え方が示されました。以後、さまざまなアクションが取り組まれています。

そんなアクションのなかでも、2017年3月8日の国際女性デーに実施された「女性のいない一日（A Day Without a Woman）」は、１月の女性大行進に続き、世界中の人々が連帯した記念すべき日となりました。

ここ日本でも、約300の人々が東京・渋谷の街頭に集まり、それぞれが日々の生活で感じている「息苦しさ」や「もやもや」をプラカードにしたり、声に出したりして、行進しました。第１回の「ウィメンズマーチ東京」です。

2017年後半には「#MeToo」ムーブメントが世界的に広がり、セクシュアル・ハラスメントについて苦しい思いをした／している人たち、そして、その苦しさに共感する人たちの輪が広がっていきました。このムーブメントからまた別の取り組みが生まれるなど、これまでの社会のあり方を見直す大きな力となっています。

日本でも引き続き、女性たちが日常で感じている「生きづらさ」を共有し、横に繋がり、社会を変える力にするため、2018年も国際女性デーに「ウィメンズマーチ東京」を開催します。もちろん年齢やジェンダーなどは問いません。誰でも参加できます。国際女性デーという記念日に、たくさんの人と一緒に歩きたいです。

「東京は遠い！」という人には、ぜひ皆さんの住んでいる地域でのアクションを呼び掛けたいです。マーチやスタンディングアクションなど国際女性デーを一緒に盛り上げるために各地での取り組みをお願いします。

「ウィメンズマーチ東京2018」は3月8日です。みなさんと会えること、各地とつながれることを楽しみにしています！

 

日にち：2018年3月8日（木）　マーチ出発：19時

コース決定！：国連大学前（東京都渋谷区神宮前5-53-70）出発→青山通りを表参道方面へ→都道413号線を左折して原宿方面へ→明治通りを左折して渋谷方面へ→神宮前六丁目の信号を斜め右方向へ→ファイヤー通りを南へ→渋谷駅前を左折して青山通り方面へ→国連大学前に戻ってゴール！

※顔を出したくない人はマスクやサングラスなど各自ご用意ください。
※コースには坂があります。ベビーカーや車椅子での参加の方でヘルプが必要な方は、ご遠慮なくスタッフに声をかけてください。
※参加者が安心・安全を感じてマーチできるように、特定の個人やグループを差別・排除するような言動はしないでください。

IWD Women’s March Tokyo 2018

The Women`s March Tokyo 2018 will take place this year on March 8, the International Women`s Day. It will follow in the footsteps of the first march we organized last year, as we hope to make this an annually reoccurring event.

On January 21. 2017, the international women`s marches occurred in response to Donald Trump’s inauguration as president of the United States. His discriminatory and sexist comments about women were widely criticized and people from over 60 countries reacted by marching through the streets of the world demonstrating for women’s rights.

Those women who raise their voices this time, carefully looked back to what feminist movements in the past had missed, to recognize and reconsider the underlying issues that needed to be challenged in order to evoke a true change in society. Reflecting on past movements generated new energy and a strong will to act.

What we quickly understood, was the need to challenge the social structure in itself, in order to solve the social problems that all women of all backgrounds and identities have to – often subconsciously – face on a regular day-to-day basis. Discrimination against women concerns all of us, across diverse boundaries of race, ethnicity, economical situation, sexuality, disability and migration history. These boundaries do not exist in our united struggle for the global right of women.

One of the actions that derived from this movement was the strike “A Day without Women” on March 8, 2017. On this day, a powerful feeling of unity was expressed, which served as a vital reminder of the solidarity amongst all women worldwide.

Here in Japan, around 300 people gathered in Shibuya, Tokyo last year on that day, displaying many handwritten signs and chanting out loud, expressing the dissatisfaction and frustration felt in our daily lives. This had been the first IWD Women’s March Tokyo.

It was also last year that the #MeToo movement spread worldwide. Those who had suffered, as well as those still suffering from sexual harassment, were able to find empathy and understanding in this global circle of trust and outspokenness. The movement generated a lot of hands-on action and has become a great force to rethink and re-evaluate our society as it stands today.

If Tokyo is too far away for you, we encourage you to take action in your own community. You can organize a march or create an information stand in your local area to celebrate the International Women’s Day alongside all the other women in this world.

We will be organizing and marching the Women’s March Tokyo 2018 this year so as to share all the daily felt hardship, to unite and create a power that can change our society. We are looking forward to see you at the march or to stand united with your local action!

Route: We will depart from the United Nations University (5-53-70 Jingumae Shibuya-ku, 150-8925 Tokyo) Directions: > Walk down Aoyama Road towards Omotesando > Turn left on Route-413 towards Harajuku > Turn left at Meji Road and head towards Shibuya > Head diagonally right at the Jungumae 6-Chome traffic light > Head south on Fire Street > Turn left in front of Shibuya station and head towards Aoyama Road > Finally, we will return to the United Nations University

*We plan to select a course which is accessible for people with prams or wheelchairs.
